Accessibility

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We design for a 360px phone first, and we check every screen in English and in Telugu.

• Keyboard. Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard. A clear gold or brown outline shows where you are. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on each page.
• Screen readers. Pages have landmarks and one main heading. Form fields have labels, hints and errors that are read out. Icons that only decorate are hidden from screen readers. Dialogs trap focus and give it back when they close.
• Colour and contrast. Text and the edges of fields meet the required contrast in all three themes. A test in our code fails the build if a colour pair drops below it.
• Touch. Main buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall, with space between them. Anything you can do by swiping or pressing and holding also has a button.
• Text size. Text sizes follow your phone’s text-size setting, and you can make them bigger in Settings. Body text is 16px, and nothing is smaller than 13px.
• Telugu. Telugu text uses a Telugu font with more line height, and is marked as Telugu so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
• Charts. Every chart in Studio has a table view with the same numbers, and colours always come with a label or an icon.
• Moving content. The home spotlight has a pause button. Animation stops if your phone asks for reduced motion.

Open Settings in your profile. You can change:

• Language: English or తెలుగు.
• Theme: Cinema (dark), Black, Light, or System, which follows your phone.
• Autoplay previews: turn off the short clips that play on posters and on the home page.
• Reduce motion: stops animations that repeat.
• Reduce transparency: solid bars instead of frosted glass.
• Vibration: turn off the short buzzes, on phones that have them.
• Text size: normal, large or largest. It makes all text and buttons bigger, on every page.

The app also follows your phone’s own settings for reduced motion, reduced transparency and more contrast.

• Films play in YouTube’s player. We do not control its controls, captions or keyboard keys. Use YouTube’s own settings in the player.
• Some screens are only in English. The admin area, which only our team uses, is in English. Telugu text has not yet been reviewed by a native speaker.
• We test with tools and a keyboard. We run automated checks (axe and Lighthouse) and test with a keyboard. Testing with TalkBack and VoiceOver on real phones is planned, and we will update this page when it is done.
• Reels are a swipe-up feed. They can also be moved with the arrow keys, J and K, but a screen reader may find the video frame less clear than the rest of the app.
